IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Israel: Allenby Border Crossing

At the Allenby Border Crossing, north of the Dead Sea, the Jordanian and Israeli terminals are approximately 5 km apart. Tour

groups (10 people or more) are permitted to drive across in their own tour bus. For individual travellers and smaller groups, our

drivers are not allowed to transport our customers between the two terminals. The border authorities provide two options for travellers to cross between the terminals: a shuttle bus or the VIP Crossing Service.

THE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE

The shuttle bus costs JOD 7.00 pp (approx $15 CAD) plus JOD 1.50 (approx $3CAD) per each luggage checked in the bus hold. Payment accepted in major currencies, as well as Jordanian Dinar. The first shuttle bus from the Jordanian Terminal leaves at or shortly after 8:30am. The first shuttle from the Israeli Terminal leaves around 9.00am. The shuttle then leaves every 1-2 hours.

THE VIP BORDER CROSSING SERVICE

The VIP service between the Jordanian and Israeli Terminals costs $160 CAD  pp each way. The service includes "VIP" waiting rooms, assistance with immigration, security and luggage, plus a van shuttle between the terminals. Usually clients go to the front of any queues. The VIP service can save lots of frustration and speeds up the crossing considerably (especially when the border is busy) and allows it to be done more comfortably. Please inform us in advance if you want to use the VIP service, and our driver will take you directly to the VIP Service office at the border. When crossing from Amman to Jerusalem the VIP service saves the wait for the shuttle bus between the Jordanian and Israeli terminals since a van is provided, and the VIP service expresses you to the front of all the queues for security checks and immigration procedure. This can be a considerable saving in time and inconvenience. Please note, the VIP service doesn't mean you get less immigration checks, and you may still have to wait if the authorities want to ask you any questions. When crossing from Jerusalem to Amman the VIP service saves you queuing for immigration and waiting for the shuttle bus from the Israeli to Jordanian terminal since a van transfer is provided. It also saves you some time waiting for the immigration service in the Jordanian terminal.

Generally our recommendation regarding the VIP Crossing Service is:

Use the shuttle bus if you feel the VIP service cost is too high. If you want to spend some money to save time and hassle, then take the VIP from Amman to Jerusalem. If money is not a worry then take the VIP service both ways: from Amman to Jerusalem and from Amman to Jerusalem. Please confirm whether you would like to cross one way with the VIP Service, both ways with VIP Service, or just use the shuttle bus service.
